The Susan Collins Interview Aftermath

I never expected this to happen, but when I posted video of our interview with Senator Susan Collins on The Q Morning Show, the Collins haters seemed to muckle right onto my little video to bash her as much as they can. They're all in an uproar because when talking about the John Edwards adultery scandal the senator said:

Would he go sneaking into a hotel in the middle of the night to see a child who’s not his? I don’t think so.

This is awesome! Well, kinda awesome. I got all excited when we received a call at the station saying the video was making the rounds on the blogosphere. I quickly checked my web stats and found no unusually high traffic, no trackbacks, no Google searches landing them on the Collins post. After a Google blog search, I found that they were linking back to our ustream site for the video. I guess I can hold off on loading thejeffparsonsproject.com up with Google Ad Sense.

As for what Senator Collins said in the video, I can't believe Collins haters are worked up over that. Is a senator who actually speaks what everyone else is thinking really that bad? Kind of refreshing if you ask me.

Collins haters can bash her all they want, but the truth is she WILL be re-elected, so suck it up and deal. For the record, in case you care, I'm not Republican nor Democrat.  .

And to the DB at Daily Kos, who says:

I'm not sure what's worse: her speculative comments about John Edwards or the masturbatory nature of the on-air talent at the radio station

I'll have to keep this short because my masturbatory nature doesn't allow me to type well: STFU.

As I write this, the list of blogs covering this is growing and not ONE only Collins Watch links back to thejeffparsonsproject.com. Bastards. Thanks! At least abc.com mentioned The Q Morning Show. I'm waiting by the phone for them to call. I'll be here all day.

Here's a list of a few of the blogs I've found:

ABC News

Collins Watch -  Others say they had it first, but sorry, I did.

mainepolitics.net - These clowns even went so far as to edit the video and post it to You Tube.

Hi Jeff,

I'm the one who cut out the relevant parts of the video and put them on youtube. I found the clip through Collins Watch and the UStream site and had no idea your blog existed. I'll certainly mention your blog if I write any more on the subject.

Good luck with your quest for traffic.

John Edwards is a pig and needs to admit what he has done. I can't believe that people actually support him and continue to after what he has done. Yes, its his personal life but when you lie (and get caught) about what you have done, it sends a message that it is OK to lie just like Bubba did a few years ago. Shame on him for what he has done, especially since what his poor wife is going through. He needs to come clean! No more of these half-truths! Good for Susan and I look forward to another 6 years of her in our senate! As if that Hack Allen has a chance. He is about as useful as a wet sponge. I can’t think of one good thing he has ever done.

Brian -

I fully support John Edwards even after what he did. For one, it does not affect the way he views the war, enery crisis, or any other policy. And yeah, it IS his personal life, and we should not be snooping in it. He is not running for public office anymore and is not an elected official; his personal life is his business (although I still think it's his business no matter his status). And it's not like the affair happened after his wife was diagnosed with cancer; this was all before. Besides, he told his entire family, and they forgave him. Why can't you?

And why is it that John McCain has had numerous extramarital affairs but is still the GOP presumptive nominee? Why has everyone forgiven him? Is it because it was in the past? Is it because he hasn't supposedly fathered a child?

I'm not even going to start arguing about Tom Allen, because you are obviously not going to change your view on him.

Tim,

It is not me who has to forgive him. His wife, his children, other family members, his party, his supporters and all others involved with his life are the ones who need to forgive him. As far as I'm concerned, this just helps to prove the lack of morals on the part of the Democrats. Also, I don't know about you but I was taught (in grade school) that having an affair, no matter who you are, is wrong. What is done is done but when asked about it, he should have been a man and admitted it. Now that he got caught he had to "fess" up to it. As far as his views on anything be it the war or any other policy, he is so far out in left field it is absolutely crazy. Not many people way out there with him.

John McCain’s family forgave him for what he did and he has actually gone on to accomplish things in the senate which is no easy task considering how both sides of the aisle, like to play politics with their politics so to speak. Other then two failed attempts for his party's nomination for president and a failed bid for VP I can't think of anything he can actually stand on and call his own. John McCain can.

As for Tom Allen, clearly you will not change your view either. He is another Washington insider, who for the life of me, I can't think of anything he has successfully passed through the congress. Senator Collins can boast the claim of passing legislation through the senate and if you listen to the interview with the Q morning show, she really is a smart woman and is looking out for the best interest of Mainers. She a very moderate senator and she reaches out to both sides of the aisle. She keeps things in check like reducing the tax breaks for the big oil companies and using that money to invest in our energy crisis. How brilliant is that? Also, she is for giving small Maine business owners’ tax breaks so local the local businesses and jobs stay in Maine. Allen and his band of loyal Maine democrats are so anti-business it is no wonder Maine lags way behind in the nation as being business friendly. Let’s think for a moment why New Hampshire, right next to Maine, is one of the most business friendly states in the nation? Oh that’s right! It’s because New Hampshire puts less of a tax burden on the small business owner! Drive to Portsmouth or Manchester or Concord and see all of the local businesses thriving. Besides raising taxes what is Allen going to do for Maine?
